How to Contribute to the Residents Section

The CTSNet Residents' Section has been developed to further the education and training of residents and fellows in cardiothoracic surgery around the world. The site is a central location for current information about residency training programs and issues directly related to residents and fellows in training and have largely been developed by cardiothoracic and general surgical residents. The Residents' Section is a subsection of CTSNet and is the combined global effort of surgeons from all of the major cardiothoracic surgery organizations.

We are currently in the process of revising the Resident Home page so that valuable and up-to-date information can be available. In addition to revising some of the current links, we plan to add several new features, including a “Latest News” section, a section profiling US and international training programs, a concise link for meetings and abstract deadlines, a link of the latest AHA/ACC guidelines, and a section devoted to basic operative techniques including video and powerpoint presentations. Furthermore, we are compiling a list of programs that provide additional training resources for residents finishing their training as well as for residents currently in-training with elective time. We will also introduce commentary to initiate discussion about the future of thoracic surgical education.

If you would like to personally contribute content to the Residents' Section please send an email to Michael E. Halkos or Tom C. Nguyen. We are very interested in making this a valuable and frequently visited site among medical students and residents in general and cardiothoracic surgery. We welcome any comments or suggestions for further improvement.
